Harold Anton was born in Brooklyn NY on November 9th, 1905. He began to paint at the age of fourteen. He studied at the School of Industrial Design, Allied Arts Academy, the Art Students League, and the National Walker, among others.

Anton shared a studio in Greenwich Village with Arshile Gorky.
He was also a teacher for the Federal Art Project in the 1930s and at the Brooklyn Museum, the Brooklyn Art Center, and the New York School of Industrial Design. He had one solo show and many group exhibitions at the following galleries: J.B. Neuman, Nierendorf, Buckholtz, Valentin, Hudson D. Walker, Mercury, and Uptown. His painting Egypt is in the private collection of the playwright Arthur Miller. He also has paintings in the collections of the Loew family (movies), Duke Niles, John Graham, Curt Valentin, Hudson D. Walker, and the Savannah College of Art and Design.
