Coming from a family of artist brothers of humble origins, he distinguished himself as a student in the night course taught by the teacher Fernando Alvarez de Sotomayor, integrating in this way, the generation of Thirteen, also called Generation Tragic, because of the unpleasant fate that followed many artists of the era including the three brothers Lobos, painters who died early due to his deteriorating health.

In 1916 he funded a trip to Spain with his own efforts. Victim of a serious illness, he was overtaken by death on the eve of the inauguration of an exhibition of his works in the Gallery The Ateneo de Madrid in 1917.
